Late Summer Lakeside

With the start of September looming ahead, my sisters and I decided to play tourists in our own town and drive up to the lake for the evening. I’d been feeling down lately, caught in a daily routine of work and no play. A change of scenery and a little treat was exactly what I needed.

We started the evening at our favourite gelato place and ordered our usual stracciatella with cappuccinos.

After finishing our ice cream, we headed down to explore the town square. Our destination was the rocky shoreline, but naturally we couldn’t help but browse the boutiques.

As we approached the familiar gazebo, I could feel my annoyances fade. Being by the lake always grounds me. My problems and worries seem much more manageable when I can hear the waves crashing into the stony coast. The beauty of nature inspires me and the future doesn’t seem so daunting after my mind’s been refreshed with the crisp air.

Unfortunately, spontaneous plans don’t always accommodate for appropriate footwear.

Summer seems to have neglected to inform August that it should be keeping the temperatures up, so I was wearing my fall finest of leggings and a long cardigan. In all black of course, to mourn the inevitable loss of sleep I’d be experiencing next month when I start school again.

Chilly weather aside, we were all smiles and selfies ending our evening by watching the sunset.
