September Playlist

Going back to school means I’ve been spending a lot more time driving. My morning commute has doubled this year because of poorly timed construction and the lovely lane closures and traffic it brings along.

Luckily Spotify’s here to save the day. I’ve found a couple new artists, and rediscovered songs by old ones I’ve already loved. I put together a quick playlist of songs that have literally been on repeat for the last couple weeks. They’re less indie-folk than songs on my other playlists, but still great to start your morning to.

Plus, I’ve gotta drown out the noise of the jackhammers somehow.

1. Bridges – Broods

This isn’t the last of this New Zealand duo you’ll see in my playlist because they’re absolutely incredible. The bass paired with Georgia Nott’s angelic voice is the perfect recipe for a morning pick-me-up.

2. Forrest Gump – Frank Ocean

I heard this song 3 years ago and made a mental note then to download it. Somehow I never did. I finally found it again and put it on my phone right away. Forrest Gump won’t be running away anytime soon. (Terrible joke, but it had to be made.)

3. Buzzcut Season – Lorde

In this song, Lorde’s voice is much less layered and sounds so clear and beautiful. Just listening to it once and moving on to the next song isn’t enough. Listen to it and abuse the replay button just as I have.

4. Mother & Father – Broods

More Broods because I love them and you will too.

5. Dream a Little Dream – Robbie Williams & Lily Allen

This new rendition of an old classic is the perfect tune for a rainy drive with colourful autumn leaves falling.

6. Super Rich Kids – Frank Ocean & Earl Sweatshirt

I question the variety of my music taste often too. I don’t even know why I like this song, but I’ve already listened to it about 47 times so give it a shot.

7. Drop the Game – Flume & Chet Faker

This song is so catchy, I actually hated it at first because I couldn’t get it out of my head. It’s a weird one that’s not for everyone so try to keep an open mind!
